Description

This Easy Baked Pears recipe is a simple, healthy dessert featuring ripe pears baked to tender perfection with cinnamon, maple syrup, and vanilla. Served warm with optional crunchy maple almond granola and creamy Greek yogurt, it is a naturally sweet and wholesome option for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Pears

  • 4 large pears (or 6 medium pears)

Flavorings

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Maple almond granola
  • Plain Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a large baking pan or sheet by lightly spraying it with cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare Pears: Cut the pears in half lengthwise. Using a cookie scoop, melon baller, or spoon, carefully core out the seeds from each pear half. Arrange the pear halves cut side up on the prepared pan.
  3. Add Cinnamon: Sprinkle the halved pears evenly with ground cinnamon. You can add more cinnamon if you prefer a stronger spice flavor.
  4. Drizzle Syrup and Vanilla: In a small bowl, whisk together the pure maple syrup and vanilla extract. Drizzle this mixture evenly over the arranged pears.
  5. Bake Pears: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for about 25 minutes, or until the pears are soft inside and lightly browned on the edges. Firm pears may require additional baking time.
  6. Serve: Remove the pears from the oven and serve them warm. Optionally, top with maple almond granola and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt for added texture and creaminess.
  7. Store Leftovers: Cover any leftover pears and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • You can use any variety of pears, but firmer ones like Bosc or Anjou work best for baking.
  • Adjust cinnamon quantity to suit your taste preference.
  • If pears are very ripe, reduce baking time to avoid mushiness.
  • Maple almond granola and Greek yogurt add excellent crunch and creaminess but can be omitted for a vegan or simpler dish.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
