Paula Deen’s 5-Minute Fudge Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 10 minutes plus chilling time
  • Yield: 36 pieces 1x

Description

Paula Deen’s 5-Minute Fudge is a quick and indulgent homemade treat that combines rich semi-sweet chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and crunchy pecans. Made on the stovetop with simple ingredients, this fudge sets beautifully in the fridge or freezer, making it perfect for holidays, gift-giving, or satisfying a sweet tooth in minimal time.

Ingredients

Scale

Fudge Base

  • 1 ½ cups Granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup Evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Add-ins

  • 6 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 16 Large marshmallows
  • 1 cup Chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, milk, and butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Stir frequently to mix all the ingredients thoroughly and prevent burning.
  2. Bring to a boil: Allow the mixture to come to a rolling boil, stirring often to avoid scorching. Maintain the boil for 5 minutes to properly cook the sugar mixture for fudge consistency.
  3. Add chocolate and marshmallows: Remove the saucepan from heat. Immediately whisk in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and large marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Stir in vanilla and pecans: Mix in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans to evenly distribute flavors and crunch throughout the fudge.
  5. Set the fudge: Pour the fudge mixture into a well-greased 9×9-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Place the dish in the refrigerator or freezer until the fudge hardens, typically about 2 hours in the fridge or 1 hour in the freezer.
  6. Serve: Once set, cut the fudge into 36 small squares and serve as a delicious homemade treat.

Notes

  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to prevent burning during the boiling step.
  • For easier removal, line the baking dish with parchment paper before greasing.
  • Chilling time may vary depending on your refrigerator or freezer settings.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or omit nuts for a nut-free version.
