  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These adorable Love Bug Oreo Cookie Balls are a fun and easy no-bake treat perfect for parties or special occasions. Made from crushed Oreos blended with creamy cream cheese and coated in vibrant red candy melts, each bite-sized ball is decorated with pretzel stick antennae, heart sprinkles, and cute edible eyeballs to create charming little love bugs. Chill, coat, and decorate for a festive, crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Balls

  • 1 package Oreos (14.3 oz package, 36 Oreos, crushed into crumbs)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)

Antennae

  • 30 mini pretzel sticks (broken in half)
  • 2 ounces white candy coating (optional, for dipping antennae)
  • Heart sprinkles (to decorate antennae)

Coating and Decoration

  • 10 ounces red candy coating
  • 5660 eyeball candies

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Add the Oreo cookies to a food processor or blender and crush them into fine crumbs.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Mix the crushed Oreos and room temperature cream cheese together in a bowl until well combined, forming a dough-like consistency that can be shaped into balls.
  3. Form Balls: Shape the mixture into approximately 1-inch balls, using about 1 tablespoon of mixture per ball.
  4. Chill Balls: Place the formed balls on a tray and refrigerate for about 1 hour to firm up.
  5. Prepare Antennae: Break mini pretzel sticks in half to create antennae. If desired, melt white candy coating and dip each pretzel half into it. Lay them on parchment paper to dry. Use melted candy coating to adhere heart sprinkles to the tops of the antennae. If not using white candy coating, use a little red candy coating to stick on the hearts instead.
  6. Dip Balls in Red Coating: Melt the red candy coating. Use a toothpick to dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted coating, shaking off excess, then place on parchment paper. Twist and gently remove the toothpick, filling the hole with a dab of candy coating.
  7. Attach Antennae: Quickly press two prepared pretzel antennae into each coated ball and hold until they stay in place. The coating will harden quickly to secure them.
  8. Add Eyes and Mouth: Use extra melted candy coating as glue to attach edible eyeball candies and heart sprinkles to create the face and mouth on each love bug.
  9. Store: Refrigerate the finished cookie balls. They will keep well for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • If cookie balls are too cold when dipping, candy coating can harden too quickly; let them warm slightly if chilled longer than an hour.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking while coating and drying.
  • Decorate quickly after dipping since the candy coating hardens fast.
  • Store cookie balls in an airtight container in the fridge to keep fresh.
