Ingredients
Scale
Fresh Fruit
- 1 medium apple
- 1 medium banana
- 3/4 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
Gelatin Mixture
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 6-ounce package strawberry-flavored gelatin
Canned and Frozen Fruit
- 40 ounces crushed pineapple (with juice)
- 1 16-ounce container sliced strawberries in sugar (frozen or refrigerated, slightly drained)
- 1 can whole cranberry sauce (14 ounces)
Optional Toppings
- Whipped cream (for topping)
- Chopped walnuts or pecans (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare fruit: Peel and grate the apple and chop the banana. Toss them together with the lemon juice in a bowl to prevent browning and add a hint of tartness.
- Dissolve gelatin: In a large mixing bowl, pour 2 cups of boiling water over the strawberry-flavored gelatin. Stir thoroughly until all gelatin crystals are completely dissolved creating a smooth mixture.
- Combine ingredients: Add the crushed pineapple with its juice, the sweetened sliced strawberries (slightly drained), and the whole cranberry sauce to the gelatin mixture. Stir in the blueberries along with the prepared apple and banana mixture, mixing everything evenly for a uniform flavor and texture.
- Chill: Transfer the blended gelatin and fruit mixture into a 9×13-inch dish. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is fully set and firm to the touch.
- Garnish and serve: Once set, optionally garnish the fruit salad with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pecans for added texture and flavor. Serve chilled for a refreshing dessert experience.
