Description
A delightful appetizer featuring ripe figs wrapped in savory prosciutto, topped with cane sugar-coated brie, and caramelized to perfection for a sweet and savory flavor combination.
Ingredients
Scale
Figs & Meat
- 8 ripe figs
- 16 strips of prosciutto (cut lengthwise into 2 or 3 strips if large)
Cheese & Sugar
- 16 small squares of brie
- Cane sugar (enough to coat brie squares)
Instructions
- Slice Figs: Cut each fig in half carefully to create two equal pieces, preparing them for wrapping.
- Wrap with Prosciutto: Take each fig half and wrap it tightly with a strip of prosciutto, ensuring the fig is fully covered.
- Coat Brie with Sugar: Evenly sprinkle cane sugar over each small brie square, coating the exposed surfaces thoroughly for caramelization.
- Assemble and Caramelize: Place each sugared brie square on top of the prosciutto-wrapped fig halves. Use a culinary torch to brûlée the brie until the sugar caramelizes and forms a golden crust, about 1-3 minutes.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm figs for best texture.
- Adjust the amount of cane sugar depending on your sweetness preference.
- If a culinary torch is unavailable, briefly place assembled figs under a broiler but watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
