Ingredients
Scale
Spice Mix
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Cayenne pepper, to taste (optional)
Main Ingredients
- 4 thin-sliced chicken breasts
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Mix spices: In a small bowl, combine salt, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir well to create an even spice blend.
- Season chicken: Sprinkle about half of the spice mixture evenly onto both sides of the thin-sliced chicken breasts. Reserve the remaining spice mix for later use.
- Cook chicken: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for approximately 5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and thoroughly cooked through.
- Remove chicken: Take the cooked chicken out of the skillet and set aside, keeping the pan over medium heat for the sauce preparation.
- Prepare sauce: Pour the heavy cream into the same skillet. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the reserved spice mix. Whisk continuously over medium heat until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
- Coat chicken: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet. Toss them gently in the creamy sauce to coat well. Allow the chicken to heat through in the sauce for an additional 1 minute.
- Serve and garnish: Plate the chicken and spoon extra sauce over the top. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Optionally, serve alongside pasta, mashed potatoes, or a fresh side salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use thin-sliced chicken breasts for faster and even cooking.
- Cayenne pepper is optional and can be adjusted based on your spice preference.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with buttery mashed potatoes or linguine pasta to soak up the creamy sauce.
- Fresh parsley adds a bright, fresh flavor and a pop of color as garnish.
- Make sure the skillet is hot enough before adding chicken to get a nice golden sear.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a lower-fat cream alternative, but sauce richness will be slightly reduced.
