  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings 1x

Description

Crab Rangoon Dip is a warm, creamy appetizer that combines the flavors of classic crab rangoon in a dip form. Featuring a rich mixture of cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, garlic, soy sauce, and crab meat baked to bubbly perfection and served with crispy fried or baked wonton chips, this dip is perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Wonton Chips

  • 50 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Dip

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 green onions, thinly diced (separate white and green parts)
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 8 ounces crab meat, drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup Thai sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare Wonton Chips: Cut the wonton wrappers in half diagonally. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan until hot and fry the wonton halves in small batches for 15-20 seconds until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels and set aside. For a lighter version, place wonton halves on a baking sheet, lightly spray with oil, and bake at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix Base: Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Stir in minced garlic, onion powder, most of the diced green onions (reserve some for garnish), soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sriracha sauce, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Gently fold in the drained crab meat. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer the mixture into a 1-quart baking dish.
  4. Bake the Dip: Evenly sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the dip. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the cheese has melted and is slightly golden.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and drizzle the Thai sweet chili sauce over the top. Garnish with the reserved green onion pieces. Serve the warm dip immediately with the crispy wonton chips.

Notes

  • For a healthier alternative, bake the wonton wrappers instead of frying.
  • Ensure crab meat is well drained to prevent soggy dip.
  • Use freshly minced garlic for best flavor.
  • Adjust sriracha sauce to taste for desired spice level.
  • This dip can be prepared a few hours ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Use a 1-quart baking dish or similar-sized oven-safe dish for best results.
