Colorful Candy Apples With Cotton Candy Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 candy apples 1x

Description

These Colorful Candy Apples with Cotton Candy are a fun and vibrant twist on the classic candy apple treat. Perfect for parties or festive occasions, the crisp apples are coated in a glossy, sweet candy shell colored with your favorite shades and topped with fluffy, colorful cotton candy for a whimsical finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 4 medium apples
  • Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers

Candy Coating

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • Food coloring (any colors of your choice)

Topping

  • 1 bag of cotton candy (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to ensure the candy coating adheres well. Insert a lollipop stick or wooden skewer firmly into the top of each apple, making them easy to dip and hold.
  2. Make Candy Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and light corn syrup. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Add Food Coloring: Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in a few drops of your chosen food coloring to achieve vibrant and colorful candy coating.
  4. Coat Apples: Let the syrup cool for about a minute to thicken slightly but still remain fluid, then carefully dip each prepared apple into the syrup. Rotate to ensure even, full coating and quickly lift it out to let excess drip off.
  5. Cool and Set Apples: Place the candy-coated apples on parchment paper to cool and harden completely. This typically takes about 15-20 minutes until the candy shell is crisp.
  6. Add Cotton Candy: Once the candy shell has set and is firm, gently wrap a handful of colorful cotton candy around the top of each apple, around the stick area, adding a whimsical and colorful touch to each treat.

Notes

  • Use room temperature or slightly chilled apples for best candy adherence.
  • Be very careful when handling hot candy syrup to avoid burns.
  • If the syrup hardens too much before dipping, gently reheat it to liquefy again.
  • Serve the candy apples on the day of preparation for the best texture of the cotton candy topping.
  • For more color variety, dip apples sequentially in differently colored syrups.
