  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 8 minutes
  • Yield: 2 sandwiches 1x

Description

A delicious and easy-to-make turkey sandwich featuring toasted wheat bread, creamy mayonnaise, savory cheddar cheese, fresh tomato slices, crisp lettuce, deli turkey, and a flavorful cranberry sauce spread for a perfect balance of tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 slices wheat bread
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 ounces cheddar cheese, sliced (or provolone or mozzarella)
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 4 leaves lettuce
  • 68 slices deli sliced turkey (or 4 slices leftover turkey)
  • ¼ cup cranberry sauce

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread: Lightly toast all 4 slices of wheat bread until they are just golden and slightly crisp to add texture and warmth to the sandwich.
  2. Apply mayonnaise: Spread 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise evenly on 2 of the toasted bread slices to add creaminess and moisture to the sandwich.
  3. Assemble main toppings: Layer the cheddar cheese slices, turkey slices, fresh lettuce leaves, and tomato slices on top of the mayonnaise-coated bread slices. Season with salt and pepper if desired to enhance flavor.
  4. Add cranberry sauce: Spread cranberry sauce on the remaining two slices of toasted bread to introduce a sweet and tangy contrast to the savory ingredients.
  5. Complete and serve: Place the cranberry sauce-topped slices on top of the assembled sandwich fillings, gently press down, cut the sandwich in half for easier handling, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For variation, use provolone or mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar.
  • Leftover roasted turkey can be substituted for deli turkey slices.
  • Toast bread only lightly to retain a bit of softness inside.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste on the tomato slices for enhanced flavor.
  • Serve with chips or a side salad for a full meal.
