Steak and Eggs Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A classic and satisfying steak and eggs breakfast featuring a perfectly seared ribeye cooked in a cast iron skillet, paired with sunny side up eggs. This hearty meal is simple yet flavorful, ideal for a protein-packed start to your day or a satisfying brunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Eggs

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 ounces ribeye steak
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional Side

  • Roasted potatoes, as desired

Instructions

  1. Season the steak: Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with steak seasoning to enhance its natural flavor.
  2. Preheat the skillet: Heat a large cast iron skillet over high heat. Add the olive oil and butter, allowing them to melt and heat for about one minute before cooking the steak.
  3. Cook the steak: Place the seasoned steak into the hot skillet. Sear each side for 4 minutes to achieve a browned crust. Then reduce the heat to medium-high and continue cooking, flipping the steak three times for approximately 8 minutes total, to reach medium doneness. Adjust the time according to your preference.
  4. Set steak aside: Once cooked, move the steak to the side of the skillet to free up space for the eggs.
  5. Cook the eggs: Keep the skillet on medium heat. Crack the eggs carefully into the skillet. Cover tightly with a lid and cook for 2 to 2½ minutes until the egg whites are fully set but yolks remain runny. Avoid flipping to maintain sunny side up eggs. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve: Slice the steak and plate it alongside the eggs. Add roasted potatoes or your preferred side dish to complete your meal.

Notes

  • For rare steak, reduce cooking time after searing; for well-done, increase it accordingly.
  • Using a cast iron skillet helps achieve the perfect crust on the steak.
  • Covering the eggs traps steam for even cooking of the whites while keeping yolks runny.
  • Add herbs like thyme or rosemary to the butter while cooking the steak for extra aroma if desired.
  • Roasted potatoes make a classic side but can be substituted with fresh fruit or toast for a lighter meal.
