Description

Spooky Ghost Brownies are a fun and festive Halloween treat featuring rich, fudgy brownies topped with vibrant dark purple frosting, adorable Peep Ghost candies, and colorful sprinkles and candy eyeballs. This easy-to-make dessert is perfect for parties or a spooky celebration, combining classic brownie goodness with playful, themed decorations.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • 1 box your favorite brownie mix for a 9-inch pan (e.g., Betty Crocker Favorites Fudge Brownie Mix)
  • Ingredients called for on the brownie mix box (usually eggs, water, and oil)

Frosting & Decorations

  • 2 cups dark purple frosting (such as Global Sugar Art Cake & Cupcake Buttercream Frosting, Decorator Icing Deep Purple) or homemade vanilla buttercream with purple food coloring
  • 1 package Peep Ghosts (alternative Peeps include Frankenstein, pumpkins, or skull shapes)
  • Sprinkles of choice
  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake brownies: Preheat your oven according to the brownie mix instructions. Prepare the brownie batter according to package directions (usually mixing the brownie mix with eggs, water, and oil). Pour into a 9-inch baking pan and bake as directed. Allow the brownies to cool completely.
  2. Frost the brownies: Once cooled, evenly spread 2 cups of dark purple frosting over the top of the brownies using a spatula. You can use store-bought purple buttercream or make your own by tinting vanilla frosting with purple food coloring.
  3. Add Peep Ghost decorations: Arrange 9 Peep Ghost candies evenly spaced across the frosted surface. Feel free to substitute these with other Peeps shaped like Frankenstein, pumpkins, or skulls for variety.
  4. Top with sprinkles and candy eyeballs: Decorate the brownies further with your favorite sprinkles and candy eyeballs, placing them around the Peeps for a spooky festive look.
  5. Cut and serve: Slice the decorated brownies into squares and serve immediately or store them in an airtight container until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Allow brownies to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Customize frosting color to fit different themes or preferences.
  • Peep Ghosts and other Peeps decorations can usually be found seasonally in most grocery stores.
  • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free brownie mix and check all decoration ingredients accordingly.
