Chicken Shawarma:
- 2 lbs chicken breasts, boneless, skinless
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground sumac
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Generous pinch ground cloves
- 1/4 cup olive oil, divided
Lemon Tahini Sauce:
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 Tablespoons water, or as needed
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- Generous pinch fine sea salt, to taste
Instructions
- Place chicken in the slow cooker and add water. Cook on high for 2 hours until chicken is cooked through.
- Slice each chicken breast against the grain once cooked.
- Mix all spice mix ingredients in a large bowl.
- Preheat olive oil in a pan, add chicken, and sprinkle spice mix over it.
- Fry the chicken until crisp without moving it.
- Flip the chicken, coat with oil, and stir gently until well coated.
- Remove chicken from pan when crisped.
- Blend all sauce ingredients until smooth.
- Serve the chicken with lemon tahini sauce.

- You can serve the chicken shawarma over rice, in pita bread, or with a side salad.
