Scale
Base
- 100 g Digestive cookies or Graham Cracker crumbs (1 Cup)
- 50 g Butter (½ Cup)
Chocolate & Sweet Layers
- 100 g Dark Chocolate chips (½ Cup)
- 100 g Milk Chocolate chips (½ Cup)
- 100 g White Chocolate chips (½ Cup)
- 100 g Butterscotch chips (½ Cup) or caramel chips
Additional Toppings
- 80 g Shredded Coconut (1 Cup)
- 110 g Walnuts, chopped (1 Cup)
Binder
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking the bars evenly.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Line a 24 x 24 cm (9 x 9 in) baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Melt Butter: Melt the butter and pour it evenly to cover the bottom of the prepared baking dish, creating the base layer for the cookie crumbs.
- Crush Cookies: Crush the digestive biscuits or graham crackers into fine crumbs and sprinkle them evenly over the melted butter in the dish.
- Mix Base: Use a fork to gently mix the butter and cookie crumb mixture to ensure the crumbs are evenly coated and pressed down to form a firm base.
- Layer Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle the dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, and butterscotch chips evenly over the cookie crumb base to form the first layer of sweet toppings.
- Add Nuts and Coconut: Layer chopped walnuts and shredded coconut over the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly for texture and flavor balance.
- Pour Condensed Milk: Slowly pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over all the layers, which will act as the binding agent during baking.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and bubbling.
- Cool and Cut: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting out using the parchment paper and cutting into squares for serving.
Notes
- Using parchment paper makes it easier to lift the bars out of the pan without breaking.
- You can substitute walnuts with pecans or almonds as preferred.
- Ensure the condensed milk is poured evenly to avoid dry spots in the bars.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a nut-free version, omit the walnuts and add extra coconut or chocolate chips.
