Muffuletta Dip Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: About 6 servings 1x

Description

This Muffuletta Dip is a flavorful, easy-to-make appetizer inspired by the classic New Orleans sandwich. Combining Italian olive salad, cured meats, cheeses, and crunchy veggies, this dip offers a zesty, savory bite perfect for serving with crostini, crackers, or Melba toast. It’s a no-cook recipe that requires some chilling time to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 1 cup Italian olive salad, drained
  • 1 cup diced salami (about 4 oz.)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped pepperoncini salad peppers
  • 1 (2 ¼ oz.) can sliced black olives, drained
  • 4 oz. provolone cheese, diced
  • 1 celery rib, finely chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil

Serving

  • French bread crostini, Melba toast, crackers, or similar

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the Italian olive salad (drained), diced salami, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped pepperoncini salad peppers, sliced black olives (drained), diced provolone cheese, finely chopped celery, chopped red bell pepper, and olive oil until well mixed.
  2. Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or an airtight lid and refrigerate the mixture for at least 4 hours. This resting time allows the flavors to blend and intensify, making the dip more delicious.
  3. Serve with Accompaniments: After chilling, serve the Muffuletta Dip chilled or slightly chilled alongside French bread crostini, Melba toast, crackers, or your preferred dipping medium.
  4. Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The dip will keep well for up to 5 days, retaining its flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For best flavor, drain the Italian olive salad well to avoid excess liquid in the dip.
  • You can substitute the salami with other cured meats such as pepperoni or capicola if desired.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, add more pepperoncini peppers or a splash of the pickling juice from the jars.
  • Allowing the dip to rest overnight will deepen the flavors further.
  • The dip is excellent served chilled but can also be served at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
