Description

This Iced Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai Latte is a cozy, spiced beverage perfect for fall or any time you crave a creamy, fruity twist on your chai. Made with a homemade apple brown sugar syrup, a chai tea concentrate, and a frothy nondairy cream, this refreshing and dairy-free latte combines sweet apple flavors with warm spices, all served over ice for a cool, delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Apple Brown Sugar Syrup

  • ½ cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup apple juice or apple juice concentrate (from frozen can)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (or 1 tsp packed ground cinnamon)
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

Apple Crisp Cream Chai Latte

  • 3 tbsp full fat coconut milk or barista-style extra creamy oat milk (or nondairy heavy cream of choice)
  • 1 tbsp Apple Brown Sugar Syrup (from above)
  • 12 tbsp soy milk or oat milk (to thin as needed)
  • ½ cup chai tea concentrate (note: if vegan, some brands may contain honey—choose accordingly)
  • ½¾ cup oat milk or milk of choice
  • Handful of ice

Instructions

  1. Make the Syrup: In a small saucepan, whisk together brown sugar, apple juice or concentrate, cinnamon sticks, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally without boiling. The syrup will thicken during this time.
  2. Finish the Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the syrup cool completely at room temperature; it will continue to thicken as it cools. Remove cinnamon sticks and store the syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
  3. Prepare the Apple Sweet Cream: In a jar or mixing container, combine the coconut milk (or oat milk) with 1 tablespoon of the cooled apple brown sugar syrup. Using a frother, blend the mixture until frothy. If the sweet cream is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of soy or oat milk until it reaches a thick but pourable consistency.
  4. Assemble the Latte: Fill your serving glass with a handful of ice. Pour the chai tea concentrate over the ice, followed by ½ to ¾ cup of oat milk or milk of choice. Stir gently to combine the tea and milk.
  5. Add the Apple Sweet Cream: Carefully spoon or pour the frothy apple sweet cream over the top of the chai latte. Add extra apple brown sugar syrup to taste if desired.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top for extra warmth and spice. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing, spiced iced apple chai latte!

Notes

  • If using ground cinnamon instead of cinnamon sticks, add it during the syrup simmering step for fuller flavor.
  • Ensure your chai tea concentrate is vegan if required; some contain honey.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of apple brown sugar syrup added to the cream or latte.
  • For a thicker cream, use nondairy heavy cream or full-fat coconut milk.
  • This recipe can be customized with different nondairy milks based on preference or dietary needs.
