Ingredients
Scale
Bliss Ball Mixture
- 1/2 cup dates (about 8 dates), pitted
- 1–2 tbsp hot water (optional, use only if dates are hard)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
Toppings
- 1–2 tbsp chocolate chips
- More hemp seeds for topping
Instructions
- Prepare Dates: Start by pitting the dates and placing them in a food processor. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water if the dates are hard, then pulse until the dates form a sticky ball.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the peanut butter, 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds, and cocoa powder to the food processor. Pulse a few times to fully combine the mixture. The dough should be moist yet hold its shape; if too wet, add a bit more cocoa powder.
- Chill Dough: Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to handle when rolling into balls.
- Form Balls: Using a tablespoon, scoop out the dough and gently roll it into approximately 12 equally sized balls. Place the formed bliss balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt Chocolate and Decorate: In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bliss balls and sprinkle with additional hemp seeds for garnish.
- Set and Serve: Place the decorated bliss balls back in the fridge to set the chocolate, about 10-15 minutes. Serve chilled as a healthy snack or dessert.
Notes
- If dates are too dry, adding hot water helps blend the mixture smoothly.
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
- Store bliss balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt or a splash of vanilla extract to the mixture.
- These bliss balls are naturally gluten-free and vegetarian.
