Angel Food Cake:
- 14 ounces prepared angel food cake, cut into 1-inch square chunks
Cherry Pie Layer:
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
Pudding Layer:
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1½ cups whole milk (half & half can also be used)
- 1 cup sour cream
Topping:
- 8 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Angel Food Cake: Cut the angel food cake into 1-inch square chunks.
- Layering: In a deep dish 8×8 square baking dish, layer half of the angel food cake, followed by half of the cherry pie filling. Repeat with the remaining angel food cake and cherry pie filling.
- Prepare Pudding: In a mixing bowl, combine the instant vanilla pudding mix, whole milk, and sour cream. Stir until smooth and thick.
- Assembly: Spread the pudding mixture over the angel food cake layer, followed by an even layer of Cool Whip. Swirl the remaining cherry pie filling on top.
- Chill: Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight for best results.
- Serve: Before serving, sprinkle sliced almonds over the cake.

- If a deep dish 8×8 baking pan is not available, a regular 9×9 baking pan can be used.
