For the Phyllo Layers:
- 8 sheets of phyllo dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Semolina Custard Filling:
- 1 cup semolina flour
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
For Topping:
- 1/2 cup honey, warmed
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer Phyllo Sheets: Place one sheet of phyllo in the dish, brush with melted butter, and repeat with 6 more sheets, stacking them evenly.
- Prepare the Custard Filling: Combine semolina, eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl. Pour over the phyllo layers.
- Top with Phyllo: Add the last phyllo sheet on top, brushing with butter between layers and scoring lightly with a knife.
- Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and set. Let cool for 10 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle warmed honey over the pie, sprinkle with sesame seeds, slice, and serve warm or at room temperature.
