Description
These Feta and Hot Honey Stuffed Flatbreads are a deliciously savory and sweet treat combining creamy, salty feta cheese with a spicy honey drizzle, all enveloped in a soft, homemade flatbread. Crispy on the outside and oozy inside, they are perfect for a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 cups (200g) self-raising flour
- 3/4 cup (170g) Greek yoghurt
Filling
- 1/2 cup (100g) feta cheese
- 1 1/2 tablespoons hot honey
Instructions
- Mix the dough: Sift the self-raising flour into a bowl and add the Greek yoghurt. Mix with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms, then use your hands to bring it together into a dough ball.
- Knead the dough: Knead the dough ball on a clean surface for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and set it aside to rest.
- Prepare the filling: Crumble the feta cheese into a bowl, then drizzle over the hot honey. Mix gently to combine the flavors.
- Divide the dough: Cut the dough ball into 4 equal pieces. Take one piece, roll it into a ball, and flatten it into a thin disk using your hands or a rolling pin.
- Fill the flatbreads: Spoon a generous amount of the feta and hot honey mixture into the center of the dough disk.
- Seal the flatbreads: Carefully fold the edges of the dough disk inwards and pinch them together to seal the filling inside. Flip the sealed dough ball over and gently flatten it to form a hockey puck shape.
- Cook the flatbreads: Heat a frying pan over low to medium heat without oil. Place the flattened stuffed flatbreads in the pan and dry fry for 6 minutes. Then increase the heat to medium and cook for 2 additional minutes on the same side. Flip the flatbreads and cook on medium heat for another 4 minutes. Both sides should develop a lovely golden brown toast.
Notes
- Use self-raising flour to help the flatbreads rise slightly and become fluffy.
- Adjust the amount of hot honey to your preferred spice level and sweetness.
- Ensure the pan is heated well and dry to achieve a crispy outside without burning.
- Serve warm for the best gooey texture of the filling.
- You can use plain yogurt and add a pinch of baking powder if self-raising flour is not available.
