  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Easy Sirloin Steak Tips recipe features tender, bite-sized beef pieces seared to perfection and tossed with aromatic garlic butter and caramelized red onions. Paired with warm pita bread and a tangy horseradish cream cheese spread, it’s a flavorful and quick meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Searing

  • 2 lbs beef sirloin or tenderloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tbsp avocado oil (divided)
  • 2 tbsp butter or ghee (can substitute vegan butter for dairy-free)
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Onions and Bread

  • 2 red onions, sliced into half-moons
  • 4 pita breads, cut in half

Horseradish Cream Cheese Spread

  • 8 oz cream cheese (dairy-free or regular)
  • 12 tbsp horseradish sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut and Season The Steak: Cut the steak against the grain into bite-sized cubes. Season the pieces generously with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
  2. Preheat Skillet: Heat a cast iron or your preferred skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of avocado oil and allow it to heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  3. Sear the Steak Tips: Place the steak pieces in the hot skillet without overcrowding. Cook in batches if needed. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until a crust forms. Adjust heat to avoid burning.
  4. Add Butter and Garlic: Just before the steak finishes cooking, add butter and whole garlic cloves to the pan. Let the garlic simmer in the melted butter for about 30 seconds, then mix in the steak tips. Season again with salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Sauté Red Onions: In a separate skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. Once hot but not smoking, add the sliced onions and season with salt. Spread evenly and stir frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. Cook 5-7 minutes until translucent and starting to caramelize.
  6. Heat Pita Bread: Warm the pita bread halves using your preferred method: oven, air fryer, or toaster until soft and slightly toasted.
  7. Make Horseradish Cream Cheese: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, horseradish sauce, and salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly with a spatula or hand mixer until evenly blended.
  8. Assemble: Spread the horseradish cream cheese on the warmed pita breads, top with sautéed onions and seared steak tips. Serve immediately and enjoy.
