  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 cups 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Cups combine the classic crunch of Rice Krispies with creamy peanut butter and a smooth layer of melted chocolate. These no-bake treats are perfect for parties, snacks, or anytime you crave a sweet, crunchy delight.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (chunky works too)
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 1 pinch salt

Main

  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Topping

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare muffin pan: Line a muffin pan with muffin liners or lightly spray the pan with cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the cups later.
  2. Melt peanut butter mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt together the peanut butter, honey, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Combine with cereal: Place the Rice Krispies cereal in a medium bowl and pour the warm peanut butter mixture over it. Stir thoroughly to coat every piece of cereal evenly.
  4. Fill muffin cups: Spoon the cereal and peanut butter mixture into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Press down firmly to pack the mixture compactly in the cups.
  5. Melt chocolate: Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.
  6. Add chocolate topping: Spoon the melted chocolate over the top of each peanut butter and cereal cup, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.
  7. Set in refrigerator: Place the muffin tray in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or until the chocolate hardens and the cups are set.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Once the chocolate is firm, remove the cups from the liners and serve the crunchy, chocolatey treats immediately or store refrigerated until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • You can use chunky peanut butter for added texture or creamy for a smoother taste.
  • If you prefer a different sweetness level, adjust the honey amount accordingly.
  • Substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate based on your preference.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a nut-free version, try using sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter.
