Champagne Sugar Grapes Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 14 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 2 servings 1x

Description

Champagne Sugar Grapes are a delightful and elegant treat featuring fresh green grapes soaked in champagne and then coated in sparkling sugar. This refreshing and fruity dessert is perfect for parties and special occasions, offering a unique combination of bubbly champagne flavor and a sweet, crunchy sugar coating.

Ingredients

Scale

Champagne Soaking

  • 2 cups champagne (enough to cover the grapes)
  • 2 cups green grapes, washed

Sugar Coating

  • ½ cup white granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the Grapes: Make sure your grapes are thoroughly washed to remove any dirt or residue before soaking.
  2. Soak in Champagne: Place the washed grapes in a medium bowl and pour the champagne over them until they are just covered.
  3. Refrigerate: Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours to let the grapes soak and absorb the champagne flavors.
  4. Prepare Sugar: Divide the sugar in half and place one half into a small bowl ready for coating.
  5. Drain the Grapes: Remove the grapes from the fridge. Using a slotted spoon, scoop them out, letting any excess champagne drain back into the bowl.
  6. Coat with Sugar: Working in small batches, roll the grapes in the sugar, ensuring each grape is well coated. Place the coated grapes on a plate in a single layer without piling them up to keep the sugar coating intact.
  7. Replace Sugar: When the sugar starts to clump and no longer coats the grapes well, discard it and replace it with the remaining half of the sugar.
  8. Freeze: Once all grapes are sugar-coated, place them in the freezer and allow them to freeze for about 2 hours or until frozen through.
  9. Serve: Remove the frozen sugar-coated champagne grapes from the freezer, serve immediately, and enjoy this elegant and refreshing treat.

Notes

  • Ensure grapes are fully dry after washing to help the sugar stick better.
  • You can substitute champagne with sparkling wine or prosecco for a different flavor profile.
  • Be gentle when rolling grapes in sugar to avoid breaking the skins.
  • Serve the grapes immediately after removing from the freezer for the best texture.
  • This dessert can be prepared a day ahead, making it convenient for entertaining.
