Ingredients
Scale
Donuts
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits (16.3 oz can, 8 count)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended)
Peanut Butter Glaze
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (Jif preferred)
- 1.5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 3–4 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Glaze
- 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
- 1.5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Additional
- 1 Reese’s Pieces, 9.9 oz bag
Instructions
- Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a fry-safe pot, deep skillet, or deep fryer to 350°F. Proper oil temperature is crucial for perfect frying.
- Prepare the Biscuit Dough: Separate each biscuit and flatten each into thinner disks with your fingers, keeping a circular shape. Flattening ensures they cook through and don’t become overly thick.
- Fry the Donuts: Carefully place a few donuts into the hot oil without overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Drain and Cool: Remove donuts and place on paper towels to drain excess oil, then transfer to a cooling rack to keep them crisp and avoid sogginess. Repeat frying with remaining donuts.
- Make Peanut Butter Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk peanut butter until fluffy. Gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, beating until smooth. Incorporate remaining powdered sugar and whisk until spreadable but thick.
- Make Chocolate Glaze: In another bowl, sift together powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Slowly stir in milk and vanilla a little at a time until a smooth, pourable glaze forms. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small snip in the corner for easy decoration.
- Assemble Donuts: Empty Reese’s Pieces into a medium bowl. Spread dollops of peanut butter glaze onto each donut. Immediately dip the glazed side into Reese’s Pieces to coat the surface.
- Decorate with Chocolate Glaze: Drizzle chocolate glaze over the Reese’s Pieces-coated donuts in a zigzag pattern using the piping bag. Serve fresh and warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for even frying and to avoid greasy donuts.
- Do not overcrowd the pan during frying to ensure each donut cooks properly.
- Cooling donuts on a rack rather than paper towels prevents sogginess.
- The peanut butter glaze should be thick but spreadable; adjust milk quantity accordingly.
- Chocolate glaze consistency can be thinned or thickened by adjusting milk and powdered sugar ratios slightly.
- Best enjoyed immediately while donuts are warm and fresh, but can be stored for a day in an airtight container.
