Apple Pie Bites Recipe

  • Author: lilan
  • Total Time: 23 minutes
  • Yield: 16 apple pie bites 1x

Description

These Apple Pie Bites are a delightful and easy-to-make treat, combining flaky crescent rolls with sweet cinnamon-spiced apples and crunchy pecans. Perfect for a quick dessert or snack, they are baked to golden perfection and optionally topped with luscious caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crescent Rolls and Filling

  • 16 oz container crescent rolls
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup pecans, chopped fine
  • 4 tbsp butter

For Topping

  • ½ cup caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  2. Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, sugar, and cinnamon using a fork until well blended. Set this mixture aside for later use.
  3. Prepare Crescent Roll Base: Roll out the crescent roll dough onto one of the prepared baking sheets. Using a knife or pizza cutter, carefully separate the dough into triangles along the perforations.
  4. Melt and Brush Butter: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe dish and let it cool slightly. Lightly brush the melted butter over each crescent roll triangle, reserving some for brushing the tops after rolling.
  5. Add Filling: Sprinkle each triangle with about one teaspoon of the cinnamon sugar mixture and an equal amount of chopped pecans for added crunch and flavor.
  6. Assemble Apple Pie Bites: Place a thin slice of peeled apple on the wider end of each crescent roll triangle. Starting at the wide end, tightly roll the dough towards the narrow point, fully enclosing the apple slice. Arrange the rolled bites seam side down on the baking sheet.
  7. Final Touch and Bake: Lightly brush the tops of the rolled crescent bites with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with more cinnamon sugar mixture for a beautiful golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
  8. Serve with Caramel Sauce: After baking, optionally drizzle the apple pie bites with caramel sauce for extra sweetness and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart, firm texture that holds up well when baked.
  • You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or omit nuts altogether for a nut-free version.
  • Make sure the melted butter is not too hot when brushing the dough to avoid melting it excessively before baking.
  • If caramel sauce is not available, honey or maple syrup can be used as an alternative topping.
  • These bites are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
