Description

Celebrate the holidays with these festive and delicious Air Fryer Christmas Tree Cookies. Using an air fryer makes the baking process quick and easy, giving you perfectly golden cookies with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Additional Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating cookies)
  • 22 Hershey Kisses
  • Frosting and sprinkles (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined. Set aside.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the peanut butter, room temperature butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Egg: Add the large egg to the wet mixture and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix gently until just combined, forming the cookie dough.
  5. Scoop and Chill Dough: Use a medium cookie scoop to portion the dough into balls. Roll each dough ball between your hands to smooth it out. Place the balls onto a baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes to chill.
  6. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) and line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  7. Coat Cookies in Sugar: Pour the granulated sugar into a small bowl. Roll each chilled dough ball in the sugar until fully coated.
  8. Arrange Cookies: Place the sugar-coated dough balls on the prepared parchment paper in the air fryer basket, spacing them about an inch apart. Press each ball down lightly to flatten slightly, allowing for some spread while cooking.
  9. Air Fry Cookies: Cook the cookies in the air fryer for 6-8 minutes, or until the edges are a very light golden brown. Watch carefully to avoid overcooking.
  10. Insert Chocolate Kiss: Remove the basket from the air fryer and allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes. Using a spatula, carefully transfer the cookies to a cooling rack. Immediately press one Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie while still warm.
  11. Decorate: Once completely cooled, decorate the cookies with frosting and sprinkles to resemble Christmas trees.

Notes

  • Make sure to chill the dough before air frying to help the cookies maintain their shape and texture.
  • Use parchment paper in the air fryer to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Adjust air frying time based on the size of your cookies and the power of your air fryer.
  • Be careful not to overcook the cookies; they will firm up as they cool.
  • Decorate creatively with frosting and sprinkles to make festive holiday treats.
