Dried Hibiscus Flowers (Flores de Jamaica)
- 1 cup
Sugar (or your favorite sweetener)
- 1/2 cup (White sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, agave nectar, or sugar-free simple syrup)
Water
- 8 cups (divided)
Instructions
- Step 1: BOIL – Mix 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers (Flores de Jamaica) and 4 cups of water in a large pot. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Step 2: STEEP – After 5 minutes, remove from heat and let the flowers steep for 10 minutes.
- Step 3: STRAIN – Separate the flowers from the tea into a pitcher using a mesh strainer. Discard the flowers, creating hibiscus tea concentrate.
- Step 4: SWEETEN – Add 1/2 cup of sugar or sweetener to the pitcher. Stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- Step 5: FINISH – Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher.
- Step 6: STIR WELL AND CHILL – Chill the tea before serving.
